spell check is not working...how do I turn it on? (MS Word 2013)

I just upgraded to a full version of MS Office 2013. I am using Word and notice two things. One, it is not auto-correcting misspelled words as I type, and two, when I go to the "Review" tab and select "Spelling and Grammar" to do a spell check, it says "Spelling and grammar complete. You're good to go!" This is not correct. 

I've gone to the Options menu. Autocorrect is turned on. Nothing else seems to make logical sense to me.

Is anyone else having this issue? Can someone help? I NEED my spell check.

    Since the setting can be set for a single character or word and can through copying and pasting go through a document or to other documents, it can seem like a virus.

    I just figured it out. In Word 2013, select the review tab, click "language". select "set proofing language" then uncheck the first box at the bottom of the box that says "do not check spelling or grammar." that will fix your problem! 

    Thank you so much! This sorted it for me.

    I have no idea what prompted my sudden lack of spell check, it had been working fine for...ever...but then last night it stopped. I'm applying for jobs, so doing lots of work on CVs and cover letters and it was getting annoying.

    Spell check is not something I rely on 100% - I always proof read myself - but it's a tool that plays its part.

    Try the link to reset the Word. Once you click on the links it will download a troubleshooter. You will have to run the troubleshooter to reset the Word 2013.
