I just upgraded to a full version of MS Office 2013. I am using Word and notice two things. One, it is not auto-correcting misspelled words as I type, and two, when I go to the "Review" tab and select "Spelling and Grammar" to do a spell check, it says "Spelling and grammar complete. You're good to go!" This is not correct.
I've gone to the Options menu. Autocorrect is turned on. Nothing else seems to make logical sense to me.
Is anyone else having this issue? Can someone help? I NEED my spell check.

I'm not sure, though, what "Language dialog" you are referring to. When I go to File/Options/Language, I don't see anything to change, except that the option is "Match Microsoft Windows <default>" and not English.
I am referring to the dialog you get when you click Review | Language | Language | Set Proofing Language. That's the dialog that contains the check box for "Do not check spelling or grammar."

That's right, Suzanne. I typed the two nonsense sentences into Word. When I ran the spelling/grammar check, the program said I was "good to go."

IMPORTANT PUZZLE PIECE HERE
One of my students accidentally found something that made a difference in my first nonsense sentence.
Go to File/Options/Proofing
Under Writing Style, click the Settings button.
Under the Grammar section (the first section), there is a checkbox that was empty called:
"Subject-verb agreement."
Actually, I checked all the unchecked items in that Grammar section.
Try it and see how it really attempts to get subject-verb agreement, although it can't recognize nonsense sentences as long as all the words are in the dictionary.
Don't have a clue as to the last two sentences.
I think those were given as examples of text the grammar checker does not flag as incorrect.
My checkbox was already unchecked. The grammar check is turned on under Proofing Options.
Word just told me this was ready to send. Not just my computer. The college I teach at is having this on all installations. This one was installed separately from the college.

The checkbox is specific to selected text. A single word or paragraph can have it checked and not show up if you look when your insertion point is elsewhere.
