I got windows office 2013 and installed it on my windows 7 laptop. I have old office 2007 excel files that I can't open, and some that will only open when I go through the program and search for them. After loading some files I tried to save them in the new format. But even after that I can't open the file. I tried coping and pasting the info, again with no sucess. what can I do to fix this.

another problem also I am facing is that I have installed windows 1064 bit and cortana search option and calculator and image viewer not working. Following message ovcurs whein I tried to open calculator.
"You'll need a new app top open this calculator"

Usually when upgrading you expect nothing but improvements.
It is rather regrettable that after making considerable investments in time, resources and efforts, we still find ourselves faced with all manner of unpleasant experiences associated with as simple a task as Installation, Un-installation, and Re-installation of your Product(s) as a result of Poor Product Development.
We find it really disappointing that after moving to newer versions of your Software (and this includes both Operating Systems and Application Software), we are faced with all manner of anomalous and inconsistent unexpected behaviour ranging from the erratic and spontaneous inability to access our data files created with the previous application version to downright un-usability.
Kindly assist and advise by resolving all issues related with problematic Installations, Un-installations, and Re-installations.

I just had the same issue.
After trying various excel settings and even an alternative machine on the same roaming profile I tried a different profile with admin rights - no joy.
Fixed it by taking out the network switch which has been in use for an adjoining desk.
Machine connected to main office switch works fine, machine with extra switch in line, fails to open excel.
File->Options->Trust Center->Trust Center Settings
- Protected View-> Uncheck the 3 options
- File Block Options -> Check "Legacy Converters for Excel" (second to last checkbox)
Very well possible. I have been going back from 64 to 32 because integrations with another application only worked with 32 bit. But I wish there would be another solution. De-install 32, install 64 and then save all the files again. Then de-install 64 and install 32 again. Phfff.
