Disable "pick up where you left off"

Have any of you figured out how to turn this "Welcome back, pick up where you left off" bookmark thing? I've gone through all the options and add-ins I can find, and I can't make it stop doing this.

On the same track I deleted all the subkeys under 'Reading Locations' and then made the 'Reading Locations' key read-only to everyone.

This has stopped Word writing to the key and I no longer get the message when I re-open a document.

    Stefan,

    I'm running Win7 - Once I get to Reading Locations, I get a bit confused!  At Reading Locations, do I right click on it or each of the document items below it?  And once I get to the right permissions item, what do I do then.  A bit more details would be helpful.  Under Reading Locations, I have about 12 document items.

    You should right-click the key(s). The document entries can be deleted.

    I'm not sure I understand - when you say "right-click the keys", exactly what keys are you referring to?  Can you provide an example(s).  I don't want to start clicking things until I fully understand what and where you are telling me to do.  Can you be a bit more specific?

    Sorry for bugging you - but am trying to be clear on what I am to do.
