I'm trying to find proofing tools for Office 2010 on MS site, but something is completely wrong. All the links now bring me to the Office 2013 options. Even the link "Download a Language Pack for Office 2010" on http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/language-packs/office-2013-language-options-FX102851176.aspx brings me to Office Language Pack 2013 page.
Actually I don't need the full language pack, I just need the spellchecker working for some languages (russian, estonian, some more). As I see it is possible to freely download such proofing tools for Office 2013, but they don't work with Office 2010.
What I show do and where I can them?

It's irksome that someone would have to purchase a language pack for a program that has worked without a hitch for years. Spellcheck & other proofing tools (for English) came with the program in the first place.
In addition, Word extensions have changed some .docx files to .doc & they won't open ~ on 2010 that shouldn't make a difference as it is supposed to open.doc files which you can then save-as .docx for future use. Still, it should NOT suddenly change document extensions like that.
As there are other issues on my computer, (clock doesn't keep time no matter how many times I reset or re-sync it &/or replace the battery) sometimes the computer won't boot properly, virus scanners can't find anything wrong, malware programs dig out Advertising cookies by the dozens) ... I am beginning to think it is the Motherboard.
Re-installing Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 is likely to be a waste of time, with troubles of it's own.
I'd like to THANK all of you who've shared your knowledge & procedures for correcting any of this. Your instructions have been easy to follow and in the very least, with your help I have combed through this computer from end to end and have learned more than I ever thought I could about the innards & workings of computers!
In the end, I think it's time to put this old thing out of its misery & look for a new computer. I am grateful for your help! *mary
OK, I don't think you mentioned that there are other problems with your computer as well. In that case, getting a new machine and then install Office would be safer, of course. However, for this to work, you must have a type of license that allows transferring the installation to another computer.

I'd buy a new, different Office and very likely Windows OS as well ~ spendy, I know, but very tempting. I haven't really liked 7 or 2010 since I first got them. But yes, I have a transfer license if it comes to that. Thanks Stefan.
