I am finding Publisher 2013 unbelievably slow, so slow as to be unworkable.

I have a new laptop and it handles all programs well including Photoshop but Publisher 2013 is extremely slow.  Even highlighting text can take over a second.  Earlier versions of Publisher are fine.  Can anyone suggest a cause and a solution?

Perhaps uncheck the "use Office to sync files faster..." setting in SkyDrive.

[Edit] After posting the above, I ran across another possible fix:

In Publisher go to File > Options > Advanced and check 'disable hardware graphics acceleration'.

I also had this problem.  I didn't when I first installed Publisher, but after about a week it became so slow it was driving me crazy!  I tried all the options that were listed in this forum, and none of them helped.  I finally just ended up uninstalling Microsoft Skydrive all together - I wasn't using it anyway - and bam!  Problem fixed! Publisher now runs great!

I was struggling with the same slow unusable situation with Publisher 2013.    I dropped back to Publisher 2010.  I do not have the time nor would I expect to fuss around trying all these patches/delete patches/updates.

I have pretty good efficiency editing a 68.9MB pub doc in Pub2010 but it was too big to save as jpg or pdf or anything other than .pub.   Switching back to 2013 I was able to create a  9.7MB pdf but still could not export a jpg.

    1a. When (approx. date) did you purchase the computer?

    1b. Did Win7 64-bit come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it, did you do a clean install of Win7, or did you upgrade the computer to Win7?

    1. What is the full name of your installed McAfee application or security suite and when (approx. date) does your current subscription expire? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender) are installed? What third-party firewall (if any)?
    2. Has any other McAfee application or a Norton application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?
    3. Did a McAfee free-trial or a Norton free-trial [PICK ONE] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)
    4. Is KB3003057, KB3006226, KB3010788, KB2992611, KB2993958, KB3005607, KB2978120, KB3003743, KB3002885 and/or KB3011780 listed in Installed Updates (not Update History)? [1]

    Thank you for the explanations and suggestions. I too use another application for working with images and then insert them as pictures in Publisher. I'll try your suggestions and hope that they'll work well enough to allow me to complete this project tonight.

    Unfortunately I've been working with Microsoft products for over 25 years and know that their shortcomings often outpace useful features and functions. Anything that I have to say beyond that about them is academic commentary that would boundary on a PhD dissertation.

    Thanks again and hopefully this gets some attention by the Publisher developers before my next project.
