Thanks but I think this is missing the point. Publisher is supposedly designed for producing high quality publications. It should be able to do these things and earlier versions of Publisher can manipulate the same
files without difficulty. The problem therefore lies with Publisher 2013 which should be withdrawn from the market until these issues are addressed. There are too many of us reporting the same problem for it to be a hardware problem and so it must be something
that has been changed for the 2013 edition that has caused the problem. In the meanwhile I have reverted back to the 2007 edition and have no problems. My biggest complaint is that I have paid for the 2013 edition and cannot get anyone from Microsoft to
even acknowledge the problem, never mind issue a refund.

"I understand your frustrations as I am a victim myself. In any event, I think I have found the problem that makes editing and moving items in ms publisher 2013 to a virtual crawl!! Since I was able to use this application without any problems prior, i highly
suspected that it might stem from the many updates we receive from Microsoft but i just could not pin point the exact culprit(s).
I have however, finally have been able to isolate this update and it is listed as:
(KB2768349)
Here's how to uninstall it:
- Click on Control Panel.
- click on System and Security
- Under Windows update, double click on View Update History
- On this window double click on the Installed updates (at top of page highlighted in blue)
- Go to column that represents Microsoft Office 2013 and look for the aforementioned update, right click and uninstall it. restart your computer and hopefully this will solve your problem.
If you wish to learn more on this update, you can find more info via http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2768349
