FWIW I have updated my web page Scan into Word, mentioned earlier in this old thread, to include scanning into Word 2013. Alternative coding is included for Excel and Outlook.

Hi Jay, all your instructions and "predictions" are spot on. I wish there is a solution.

I was able to uncheck "Acrobat Scan 1.0 Type Library", but it still doesn't do anything.

    For troubleshooting:

    • In the code of the Scan subroutine, click in the line that starts "Set objImage =" and press F9. That sets a breakpoint, an instruction to VBA to stop before executing that line. The line will be highlighted in dark red, and a large red dot will appear in the left margin.
    • Run the macro. It will stop with a yellow arrow pointing to the breakpoint line. At this time, VBA should have made the variable objCommonDialog point to a copy of the WIA.CommonDialog (the one Doug showed), but it hasn't yet tried to do anything with it.
    • Press F8, which executes the breakpoint line and stops again (the yellow arrow moves down one line). Executing that line should cause the dialog to display. If it doesn't display, then something is interfering with VBA's connection to WIA.
    • Hover the mouse pointer over the word objImage, which will pop up a tooltip showing the value of the variable. I suspect it will say "objImage = Nothing", meaning that no assignment was made.
    • Press Shift+F8 to execute the "strPath =" line (the Shift makes it step over the call to the SpecFolder function; no need to step through that line by line) and then F8 to execute the "If Not objImage" line. Because objImage is Nothing, the execution will immediately skip down to the "End If" line, bypassing the code that would save the image in a file and then insert the picture into the document.
    • Press F5 to execute the rest of the code, which cleans up VBA's memory and exits the macro.

My suspicion is that the checked item for Acrobat Scan 1.0 Type Library in the References dialog is the thing that interferes with WIA. You may or may not be able to uncheck that item; it depends on whether something in one of your other macros is using the Acrobat code.

Yes, Irfan View works, and I have a network Twain scanner that works on OneNote too.

But I want to make the Macro / module works in Word 2013.

As shown below I've selected the MWIA Lib v2.0, and also copied and pasted the full code.

But when I hit run, nothing happens. Please help.
