Word 2013 forgets printer settings

In past versions I would set the printer settings for a document and it would remember it so reprints default to the last used settings.  How do I set Word 2013 to do the same?

In particular I like to use double sided printing.

    The problem we were experiencing is actually with Outlook, not Word.

    Different Office programs handle printing differently. Ask in the Outlook forum at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/outlook?sort=lastreplydate&dir=desc&tab=Threads.

    Like many others I find 2013 frustrating in this regard, whether or not it has changed (I think  it has too!).

    A workaround is available in a shareware macro here:

    You put the template in your Word startup folder and it adds a macro that allows you to associate docs with printers. 

    It works fine for me. You lose the printing options of the usual dialog box, but I find it useful for printing labels to my little label printer, as it prevents me printing them on my A4 printer or, worse, printing loads of useless labels when I just wanted a letter!

    This is ridiculous - I am searching for an answer to the opposite problem. My version of 2013 is remembering settings permanently. I have to change everything ( number of copies double sided, whole doc or selection of pages etc) each time which is very annoying as I print many different things in many different ways. If I ask for 13 copies one day - it will still print 13 copies the next if I forget to change it - as I often do as I am not used to this.  

    Ideally I want a 10 minute memory.

    Have you tried restarting Word? Does that clear the settings?

    Also, you should verify that the default settings of the printer has not changed (in Control Panel).

    Hello,

    I have Word 2003 on a laptop (no VM) and Word 2013 on my workstation.  In Word 2003 the printer settings start out as the default, BUT when if I:

    1. Change the printer and/or a setting and
    2. Save the document

    when I reopen the document again (at a later time) the settings from step 1 (above), come right back and do not default to the default printer.

    This is not true for 2013, which when ever I reopen a document (regardless of the previous printer setting / properties at save time) is set always to the default printer.

    Again no VM here, just Windows 7 and Windows XP SP 3.

    I also would love Word 2013 to work as well (if not better than) Word 2003.  MS-Word should not be taking steps backward, but going forward.

    This is a bug and needs to be part of normal Word 2013 bug fixing during 2014, please and thank you.
