In past versions I would set the printer settings for a document and it would remember it so reprints default to the last used settings. How do I set Word 2013 to do the same?
In particular I like to use double sided printing.

Yes, I have a toolbar/QAT button that changes the printer from my default laser to my inkjet, prints the document, and resets the printer to the default. This was courtesy of Graham Mayor here.
I solved this by holding...
>'CTRL P'
>Printer Properties
>Finishing
>Tick ... 'print on both sides'
This setting will save for all future print jobs.
If you find out can you send me the code. I have the same issue.

I'd like to have duplex printing as my default for all print jobs. However, once one exits Word any default settings are lost--they definitely aren't saved for future print jobs.
Try setting the printer to print duplex via the Control Panel>Devices and Printers screen then right click on the Printer and then left click on Printer Properties. Do that when Word is not running, or at least when the printer is not selected as the active printer in Word.
