Rearranging the order of pages in Word 2010

In Word 2010  can you sort pages like you can sort pages in Powerpoint by simply dragging and dropping ?  If not by dragging and dropping, how?

Nope.

Word is a text flow program. It prints text on pages but doesn't really organize by page. Powerpoint is a slide show program. It does organize by slides.

You can cut and paste text.

If you have used heading styles to organize your document, you can use the navigation pane to move logical sections around.

If each page begins with a heading  formatted with a page break before (instead of a manual page break between pages), you can switch to outline view, collapse the view to the heading level used at the tops of pages (say, heading 1), and move (by dragging or by cutting and pasting) the headings.  The content under the heading will move with them.  Also in outline view, you can sort the headings.   When cutting in outline view, you must include the heading's paragraph mark so that subheads and text will be included in the cut.  

The navigation pane also allows you to collapse or expand the heading levels shown and to drag headings to rearrange, but as far as I know, you cannot cut and paste to move headings and you cannot sort them.

    So, for example you copy paste 60 separate pages of scanned text/images into a Word document all at the same time? There are no headings/heading paragraphs! If they are not in the order you want them, then you must copy + paste to rearrange them in Word.

    Ask yourself why you didn't insert them in the required order in the first place...

If they are not in the order you want them, then you must copy + paste to rearrange them in Word. There should be an easier way to do that task in Word. That is not an unreasonable capability for a word processing program as widely used as Word.

    You would be mistaken in that assertion! It's fairly common in my experience for Word users to rearrange pages at times. One common scenario is when you scan then copy/cut + paste a large number of pages into a Word file. They may not be in order and you may need to rearrange them in Word. Microsoft should make that task easier than cutting and pasting each page again.

    Please read through this thread. The task of moving logical sections of text, delimited by heading paragraphs is quite easy. Word simply does not really deal in "pages" because what is on one page today may be on a different one tomorrow even with no editing simply by moving to a different computer. It does understand headings.
