Rearranging the order of pages in Word 2010

In Word 2010  can you sort pages like you can sort pages in Powerpoint by simply dragging and dropping ?  If not by dragging and dropping, how?

In Word 2010  can you sort pages like you can sort pages in Powerpoint by simply dragging and dropping ?  If not by dragging and dropping, how?

Nope.

Word is a text flow program. It prints text on pages but doesn't really organize by page. Powerpoint is a slide show program. It does organize by slides.

You can cut and paste text.

If you have used heading styles to organize your document, you can use the navigation pane to move logical sections around.

If each page begins with a heading  formatted with a page break before (instead of a manual page break between pages), you can switch to outline view, collapse the view to the heading level used at the tops of pages (say, heading 1), and move (by dragging or by cutting and pasting) the headings.  The content under the heading will move with them.  Also in outline view, you can sort the headings.   When cutting in outline view, you must include the heading's paragraph mark so that subheads and text will be included in the cut.  

The navigation pane also allows you to collapse or expand the heading levels shown and to drag headings to rearrange, but as far as I know, you cannot cut and paste to move headings and you cannot sort them.

    If you organize your work using heading styles, those can easily be rearranged in a Word document, complete with lower-level text. You can set the formatting of a heading style to have a page break before it, if you wish; that way by telling Word to use that heading style, you also tell it to begin a new page. If you don't type too much text, everything under that heading will remain on one page. Such pages can be easily moved in the Navigation Pane or in Outline View. It is also easy to generate a linked Table of Contents and update it when things are moved. Word still isn't seeing "pages" when it moves something, it is seeing logical constructs that start with a heading style. However, that may do what you want.

    This is a good way around the problem, thank you.

    But actually, the perfect idea would be to have a "WORK BY PAGE" function in WORD.

    If it works for PowerPoint, they could just build it into WORD and make everybody happy.

    Theses are my 5 cents on the subject.

    And by the way I am also one of the 0.01% of users.

    I, for one, shudder at the thought of what adding this "feature" to Word would do to the program. This would not simply be a matter of adding a button, it would be a major change in how the program functions. Everything in Word is interconnected.
