rendering the fonts in word 2013 is horrible!
Will Microsoft change it?
This is a similar problem like with Internet Explorer 9 & 10.

Check under File>Options>Advanced>Display and check the box for "Use subpixel positioning to smooth fonts on screen" and also try changing the setting for "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"

He he he... you are really funny. this exactly "fix" doesn't work. that was the one of the first advices given to me at the beginning of this topic of that forum. please read first what was said before, and then try to help, but do not repeat this useless advices.
No, it DOES NOT. I'm angry they gives us some "solutions" like a stick thrown to a dog, to get rid of him for a while. But we are coming back sooner or later to the same.
What is funny, this clear-type problem is ONLY in WORD 2013. My Excel 2013 have NO problem at all since it uses proper colored clear-type. So only Word. I have my 2003 installed for writing, just for finishing I use 2013 version. But yes, this is no solution for one who have just one version. Having several versions give a bit of a trouble (2003 vs 2007 transition).
I hope with windows 10 this issue WILL be sorted out.
Each of the fixes listed do work to resolve this issue FOR SOME PEOPLE. No "solution" will fix every possible cause of blurry fonts. Expecting one simple fix for what is a vastly complex issue is ridiculous.
How could MS give you one fix that resolves graphics card hardware issues, font display issues, scaling issues and every other possible cause? It's like saying there should/could be one drug that cures every cause of excessive coughing.
In another place and admittedly with a different application, an issue with font rendering was solved by uninstalling the KB3013455 update.
We are talking about monocrome vs color clear-type, no graphic cards or other stuff. Excel 2013 have color clear-type, Word 2013 have monocrome. While 2003 version of Wor have color clear-type too. Taht version I use now, so I can tell. Percieved sharpness is better with color clear-type on my DELL IPS 23'' and other LCD screens. Difference it is less visible on high dpi screens like smartphones.
Microsoft did that on purpose, as they did many things. They race market share and omit solutions that touch rather narrow group of users, just to release software at time. Than they fix and tweak things further if they **** users too much. Windows Vista and 8 is clear evidence of that - both released because of greater importance of releasing than being finished to the max..
