rendering the fonts in word 2013 is horrible!
Will Microsoft change it?
This is a similar problem like with Internet Explorer 9 & 10.
What is going on?
IE8 works good, Office 2010 also...

Check under File>Options>Advanced>Display and check the box for "Use subpixel positioning to smooth fonts on screen" and also try changing the setting for "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"
Doug. I'm calling you out in regards to your long-winded post. 95% of it has absolutely no relevance to the blurry text problem.
Your post is just an attempt to justify your existence. Got to be seen to be doing something eh? Even if is irrelevant. Wally of "Dilbert" fame would be proud of you.

Sorry, I disagree. First, Doug wasn't replying to your specific situation, so you can't call him out on the addins part of his reply.
Second, since the reply that was marked "Answer" at the start of the discussion has not helped you you have to look at alternate fixes. One of the most common causes of "unknown" or generic problems in Office is addons and external 3rd party programs that interact badly with Office.
Third. We are not paid for our work here, so we don't have to do this to justify anything. We try to help people because we like to. Ingrates like you just turn us off. Enough snarky comments and "... we just take our bat and ball and go play with someone else ..." so everyone else loses.
Fourth, since your situation is significantly different than the original poster you would be better served by posting a new question. That way you could explain your unique situation AND the previously posted suggestions that you have tried. You would get replies that are focused on you, not on this long rambling discussion that has already been marked answered.
Under file there is no "options"???
What version of Word are you using? Word 2010 and 2013 have File | Options. Word 2007 has Office Button | Word Options. Earlier versions have Options on the Tools menu.

I have a problem with blurry text in the body of Word 3013 documents. It is curious that Word commands, toolbars etc are all clear and the same body text in Excel 2013 is clearer (see attached snip). I have used the same font and size in Excel and Word.
I have followed many of your suggestions in this forum and have seen some minor improvements, but so far these have not solved the problem:
· Checking video driver for the I5 processor trying several drivers, believe I am using the latest.
· Dissable hardware graphics accelerator on and off
· Use subpixel positioning to smooth… on and off
· Playing with ClearType settings
I have loaded some other software (including Abbyy Translation), but the fuzziness problem prexisted these.
I use Word for most of the day and so this fuzziness is very irritating but the fact that the body text displays better in Excel gives me hope.
Any suggestions would be very welcome
I have an old HP Pavilion computer with a Cupertino motheboard and upgraded the Processor from an Intel I3 to an Intel I5 and 8G of ram. This worked fine with my old HDD, WIndows 7 and Office 2007.I have recently installed a new SSD and loaded new Windows 7 and new Office 2013, this is when the problem started.
