In my case it helped a lot to go through the System wide Clear-Type font rendering wizard. Just go to your start screen and search for Clear Type in the settings section.
Thanks, Ronald, that definitely helped!
I just installed Office '13 yesterday (testing it at my office before we give it to a bunch of people to make sure we don't run into any major problems.) So far, I've been woefully unimpressed. I have both Office '10 and '13 on my machine, so I can view the
exact same document in both formats. It unquestionably looks better in Office '10. Playing with the Clear-Type font rendering helped, but it still looks inferior to the '10 version.
What am I missing here? Is there anything special about '13 (keeping in mind that we run a secure network and will not be using the cloud system at all.) Should I go back to '10, or are there some other improvements that I just haven't noticed yet?
