rendering the fonts in word 2013 is horrible!

Will Microsoft change it?

This is a similar problem like with Internet Explorer 9 & 10.

What is going on?

IE8 works good, Office 2010 also...

Then?

Check under File>Options>Advanced>Display and check the box for "Use subpixel positioning to smooth fonts on screen" and also try changing the setting for "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"

I've tried everything and nothing worked. Office 2013 is too ugly (interface and fonts) that I had to go back to version 2010.

Obvious problem is that Microsoft gave up ClearType technology and the interface is simplified in order to get the speed and low resource for tablet market but all for nothing if doing so irritating desktop users.

I do not understand why they could not make a simple option where the user could have to choose whether he wants his application to be beautiful or a little demanding in resources. I'm not a lover of beauty but it is really torture for the eyes.

If you are using windows 8, do a search for ClearType Text and enable "Turn on Clear Type". That fix my problem for me.
