rendering the fonts in word 2013 is horrible!
Will Microsoft change it?
This is a similar problem like with Internet Explorer 9 & 10.

IE8 works good, Office 2010 also...

Check under File>Options>Advanced>Display and check the box for "Use subpixel positioning to smooth fonts on screen" and also try changing the setting for "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"

I believe my issue is similar to some reports here and so maybe this will help... albeit a catch 22 fix if you are using 2 displays. My issues was that Outlook 2013 was blurry on a second screen regardless of resolution or any of the setting changes in this thread... Making the text larger clicking using the options below from the screen res page resolved the issue on my attached monitor, however it had the opposite affect on my Laptop display. As I am using the attached larger screen as my main display I am happy. Based on this, it seems on a larger screen the setting needs be as shown below and on a smaller screen it needs to be on the default 'recommended' setting.
This may also resolve the issue for anyone out there with the issue on a single display??

Yup this definitely fixed my issue. It's not a graphics driver nor is it some display setting in windows. It is specific to Microsoft Word and these settings described. 5-10 searches later and this is the only fix that did something. Thank you so much!!
