Word keeps randomly switching to draft view when I have track changes on.

I have been having the same issue and can't seem to find a concrete resolution.  A few people in this forum say to change your cite while you write preferences to scan for temporary citations every 600 seconds and that way it will only switch every 10 minutes.  Haven't tried it so I don't know if it works or not.  

My Endnote plugin has "scan for temporary citations" off and it still happens. People in the thread tried to disable Endnote plugin and it did not help. When I have time I will try to remove Endnote completely and see if it helps.

Apart from Endnote, all other plugins are pretty standard - (1) Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin and (2) Instant Messaging Contacts (not even sure what program added it there and why).  

Again, try disabling all of the Add-Ins. Adobe Add-Ins are well known (in the past) for causing problems. That the writer of the program ought to know better does not mean that they do.

You can fix it. Stop using the Add-In programs that are causing the problems until the people who wrote these correct the problems. This is like buying a $50,000 car and complaining to the car manufacturer because you can't see out the windows when you add after-market tinting to those windows.

Note that problems caused by third-party add-ins aren't something that Microsoft should fix.

This exact same problem happens to me as well, it's an incredible nuisance. Print layout view is far superior to Draft view for reviewing tracked changes, because Print layout view plus balloons, displays more of the document than Draft view plus the reviewing panel.  Also, it is much easier to delete comments when they are in a balloon compared to when they are in the Reviewer panel.  It is such a nuisance, because when I switch it back to Print layout view, the doument jumps to the beginning of the document, and I end up losing track of where I'd got up to with reading the document.  It wastes so much time.  This is not becuase i've been idle, it happens even if i've recently made some changes to the document.  I also have a problem with the ballons sticking to the screen, so messageds like "Joe Blogs, 11/11/2011 3:26 p.m. commented: This is a great pargraph" will stick to the screen and obscure what i'm reading.  Eventually i have so many things stuck to the screen that i can't see my document, and have to close all Word files in order to get rid of the stuck messages (going to the desktop and clicking on "Refresh" does not correct this. I really hope that Microsoft can fix these two bugs!
