Word keeps randomly switching to draft view when I have track changes on.

In Word 2010, if I am editing a document with Track Changes on in Print Layout view, it will randomly switch to Draft view, opening the comments pane (instead of having comments bubbles in Print Layout view). This is an annoying bug since I prefer the arrangement of information in Print Layout view compared to Draft view. Is there a way to prevent this automatic switching while still having Track Changes on?

    Yep same thing happening to me - EndNote + Word 2010 and switching randomly to draft view. I am going to try the suggestion above about turning off instant formatting and I'll let ya know if that doesn't work. ;)

    I have the exact same issue! As long as I stay in the comment bubble, it will automatically jump to draft view! 

    even during I am typing, sometime the typing position will jump randomly to elsewhere as if someone pressed the "home" button or something. I has long suspected it is my computer hardware problem, until I realize it may be the Office issue. I happen when I was in windows 7 and in now windows 8.

    I had the problem when I was using Office 2010 Volume Label edition. Then I removed the office and installed the Retail Edition Trial. It doesn't have the issue of draft view jumping in Retail Edition.

    I wonder if it could be a possible that the issue is Volume-Label specific problem.

    I have a better solution, stop using microsoft and use open office. Move from endnote to mendeley or zotero. All problems solved.

    asking people to switch off a tool is not very helpful. However you may find you will have to pester the people at endnote as you are getting nowhere here. However they just pass the buck as well.

    start a thread on their website, I am sure you will get plenty takers. I switched off the auto citation and have had much less problems. It only started when I got documents from colleagues in the states to look over.... someone else found that it happened in a similar way. hmmm a pattern.

    I wont be upgrading endnote or microsoft office until the problem is solved. My suggestion is that others do the same.

    This sounds right to me. I have been using Office 2010 and EndNote X6 with no problem for three months. I started collaborating with a team and tracking changes and now have the same problem. I have had an even better one though. I ran the Compare/Combine to create a new document. Word hangs after I add one or citations. EndNote throws an error with a message about the client software server not responding. 

    I found that by Accepting All Changes the problem of Word hanging goes away. Now I just have the same Printout to Draft view problem.

    I don't know who is at fault. Is it like putting bad window tint on a good car, or is it like buying a bike with rims that are 2 mm to big so you can't put standard tires on them?
