Have upgraded from Windows 7 to Windws 8 and have thereafter installed the Office 2013 trial version on my HP Pavilion dv7 laptop. The Dragon Naturally Speaking version 12 works with MS Outlook as well as MS Excel however whenever I attempt to open MS Word i get a response Microsoft Word has stopped working: A problem caused te program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Please help me or inform me how long shall it take to provide the solution.

I shall try to assist you in related to your Word issue.
Verify if the ‘Dragon naturally speaking’ (Netspeak) add-in is enabled in Word application?
Try running the Word application as administrator by following the steps below
Right click on Word application and click ‘Run as admin’.
And follow the steps below to enable naturally speaking (add-in) in Word and check if it works fine.
Click on File, Options, Add-ins, and Click on ‘GO’ beside Manage – COM Add-ins and check the add-in option next to Netspeak and click OK

I have experienced similar issues as posted above. I found that reinstalling office and rebuilding the OS from scratch, followed by carefully running Dragon prior to starting the office applications all helped in minimizing the compatibility issues (even after upgrading to 12.5).
I found that during dictation, the cursor would flash all the text would highlight and then over a period of time, cursor movement within the application would become painfully slow. this was of course regardless of the speed of your system .
After some research, I thought maybe the cursor animation that is part of office 2013 was the culprit. there is no obvious way of disabling this unless of course you Google it and find the appropriate registry key update .
I'm happy to report that I have gone ahead and disabled cursor animation and have improved the dictation performance and stability within office 2013 dramatically.

I had a similar problem and your suggestion made Dragon NaturallySpeaking work in an open Word document. The problem I have is that after I close the document and open another document the Dragon NaturallySpeaking add-in is back in the inactive category and has to be manually moved to the active category again.
I am running DNS 12.5 and Office 365, and Windows 8. Everything was running properly until about a week ago and for some reason the Dragon NaturallySpeaking add-in will not stay in the proper category.
Looking for more ideas.
After reading all the posts on this blog, and talking to the DNS support line half a dozen times, I got a bunch of misinformation. I was told that I needed an ethernet to connect to my computer to get the 12.5 download to work properly. That is false.
What ultimately got DNS 12.5 to work with office 365, and Windows 8 was to go back to a setpoint one week ago when it all was working correctly. I did ultimately have to reload my profile which mercifully I had saved on a thumb drive.
YES. The Dragon update 12.5 has resolved the issue.

I have found this to be NOT TRUE... word constantly crashes with 12.5 and will only dictate one doc, if you close and open a new one, will crash word and not allow it to re-open without safe mode.
