MS Word 2013 stops working with The Dragon Naturally Speaking version 12

Have upgraded from Windows 7 to Windws 8 and have thereafter installed the Office 2013 trial version on my HP Pavilion dv7 laptop. The Dragon Naturally Speaking version 12 works with MS Outlook as well as MS Excel however whenever I attempt to open MS Word i get a response Microsoft Word has stopped working: A problem caused te program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Please help me or inform me how long shall it take to provide the solution.

I shall try to assist you in related to your Word issue.

Verify if the ‘Dragon naturally speaking’ (Netspeak) add-in is enabled in Word application?

Try running the Word application as administrator by following the steps below

Right click on Word application and click ‘Run as admin’.

And follow the steps below to enable naturally speaking (add-in) in Word and check if it works fine.

Click on File, Options, Add-ins, and Click on ‘GO’ beside Manage – COM Add-ins and check the add-in option next to Netspeak and click OK

    HI Mary,

    you need to disable 2013 plugin. When its asked as you quoted as "'dragon.word2000support.1' add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-on and check for available updates. Do you want to disable it now?".... disable it for 2013.

    Use Word 2010 when you want dictation, otherwise use 2013 for normal operations.

    And Yes when it crashes, solution is to restart computer....

    Sorry but there is no direct solution till you upgrade to 12.5 of Dragon...

    Thanks for that information. It was a great help. However, Word 2013 (I am using Windows 7) still crashes. It gives the following notice:  Word is running into problems with the 'dragon.word2000support.1' add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-on and check for available updates. Do you want to disable it now?"  I cannot find a newer add-on for Dragon Naturally Speaking.

    Also, the Netspeak add-in sometimes somehow comes unchecked, and Word crashes. Going in and re-doing the steps you show in your answer starts things going again, but not until I close out everything with the Task Manager and restart my computer. 'Tis a pain in the pinfeathers.

    Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    This worked for me! I tried all the other tricks, I thought it was because I had downloaded the 64-bit but I removed it and install the 32-bit and ran into the same problems. Then I saw this forum and followed the directions to run word as administrator and it worked immediately. Thanks so much.
