Visio 2013 VERY slow

My document was giving me some slowness and I thought it was related to number of items or something. I was able to accelerate things (return to normal operation) by manually setting page size. Using the option to let Visio expand the page as needed seemed to kill performance.

Ok, well done deep dive tshooting, but I'm not a programmer, I'm single user as most part of those who posted in this thread - what should I do to make it work?

I think many people's problems in this thread may be related to different things. For example; I believe my problem may be related to the fact that I make extensive use of PageSheet and DocumentSheet Shape Data section.

I currently have 1476 rows in the shape data section of my documentsheet. However I experienced slowness even when I only had 200 rows. The problem is compounded if you also make heavy use of the format cells in the shape data section. Visio 2010 does not have this problem at all.

I see you've made other posts related to slowness when zooming in and out. Your problem may be much simpler, and may be related to hardware acceleration options within Visio. This option can be found under File -> Options -> Advanced Options: "Disable hardware graphics acceleration".

I wish this worked for me, but I always use fixed page size... so it will not help in my case.

Out of curiousity, do you make use of shape data in your shapes/pages/documents?

OK, first let me indicate that I have been experiencing the problems stated here (panning & zooming delays) with my Visio 2010 program (as most/all others here are expressing this issue with Visio 2013)

What I've found is that if I have shapes that I've made - that I insert into my drawing and they are drawn with solid lines --- pan & zoom are fine.

If I take that same shape and change it to a dashed line - pan & zoom slow to a CRAWL.

Here is a shape of mine that I inserted into a blank drawing.

Shape - (Solid Lines)                                                                     

So in that same drawing, if I change the shape to either of these type Dashed lines

Shape - (Dashed Lines)

.....then pan & zoom slow to a CRAWL.  

If I go back and change the shape back to solid lines --- Pan & Zoom work fine again.

I don't know if this is the reason for the delays that everyone is experiencing, but this is what I have noticed in my experiences with Visio 2010.  Hopefully, something as simple as this could also apply for the problems everyone is experiencing in Visio 2013.
