Thanks to all of you for comments. It is not the Ruler! Most of you have it right, and the comment from MS is essential. Maybe it was a mistake! There needs to be a method to return "text boundaries" to the mix with the same "look and feel" it had in 2007 - 2010 and before.
I now use "crop marks" which shows in the four corners of the document, and that is a "D-" replacement for a "A" "text boundaries"!
As with many other items, until one uses the feature, you don't know what you are missing. As a teacher, I have shown this feature to many, and few disliked it! No one knew it existed, and I have taught some very talented Word users.
Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst with the next version of Office!
