How to display margins in Word 2013

I think page borders have already been suggested, but, while they define the basic text margins, they don't indicate the boundaries of text boxes, frames, tables, etc., as the classic text boundaries do.

Sorry to necro this thread but this is a great answer and it prompted me to think up what might be an acceptable (if temporary) workaround:

Use page borders instead.

Set Design>Page Borders>Borders & Shading>Options>Measure from: text

Now you'll have margin borders. Sadly, you'll probably waste paper for a while when you forget to turn page borders off ...

... or maybe page borders will become a thing if enough of us start using them ...

I'm disappointed MS developers, so casually, threw out this amazing feature with no idea or thought whatsoever of its usefulness to some of its customers. I'm also extremely disappointed that in the past 3+ years, MS has done nothing to bring this feature back, when so many seem to have found it to be beneficial, (or have I missed something?). It shows me a lack of attention to their creative customer base.

I'm a MS Word user since the early nintys, and have depended on this visual feature to define my page design for so long, that when I opened up a word document on a different computer that had been updated to MS Word 2013, I felt lost. I had to build my own margin lines with the line feature, in order to create a multi-piece document of bookmarks that I planned to cut apart after printing.

No, text boundaries are nothing like margin boundaries, and crop marks are, to me, almost useless compared to margin boundaries inside the virtual computer screen page. Rulers are essential, even with margin boundaries, yet are not a replacement for them!

That day, when experiencing MS Word 1013 for the first time, I was extremely frustrated. After spending a crazy amount of time searching every menu and option in the 2013 version of MS Word for a way to turn on the familiar and comforting feature I had grown to expect, and temporarily building my own margin borders for the project, I vowed not to upgrade from my current version of MS Word, until they reinstitute this feature. If MS doesn't put a margin border option back into the program before they stop supporting it, I will look for, and learn, another word processing program, that hopefully has a margin border feature, and won't jerk the rug out from under my feet like this thoughtless change has done.

Hello, perhaps you're looking for the crop marks?

I was looking as well, found this thread, and searching i found them here:

FIle>Options>Advanced>Show document content (section)>tick on "Show Crop Marks", then click ok and voilá.

Saving all documents in doc 97-2003 makes no difference whatsoever in the Crop Marks.
