mail merge not working with office 2013

Trying to do a mail merge with office 2013. I've done this for years with other versions of office (2003, 2007, 2010) but it's not working with 2013 for some reason. I'm following all the steps, but the emails aren't getting sent. Is there some way that the profile or something is set up wrong so that word isn't sending this properly? I've also tried to send via outlook, but in outlook I can't choose an excel spreadsheet for the list of contacts.

What is wrong with this? someone plesae help me! My outlook profiles are all messed up becasue i use icloud to sync the calendar and contacts, but i use pop/stmp (whatever that means) for my email....

The only way I could get this to work in Word 2013 and with Windows Live Mail as mail engine was by selecting "Plain text" as the mail format in the final dialog box. Using HTML as mail format does not work, even though Windows Live Mail supports it just fine (and is even using it as my default).

To my mind, this is clearly a bug, but for the limited use I have, the workaround is acceptable.

It has been reported previously that once you have executed a merge using Plain Text as the format, you will then be able to execute to email in HTML format. Worth a try.

As a work-around, download the MergeTools – 20140218 Add-in that I created from the following page of my One Drive:

Save the file in the Word Startup folder. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 the default location for that folder is

C:\Users[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

When you have done that, the tab shown below will be added to the Ribbon:

One thing to note is that the field names in your data source must contain only alphanumeric characters (No @,#,$,%,&,(,), etc) and the field names must not start with a numeric character (0-9).

You may also want to download the Merging with Attachments document that is also on that page which explains how the system is used. It is not actually necessary to have separate attachments as the facility can be used to send just the documents created by the merge itself as attachments, either in the form of Word files or .pdf files.

Thanks Doug and Klogeaage.

So i have tried the plain text option you gave me and i received an error message. First word wanted to confirm that i wanted to send a e-mail and if i was not i needed to check my antivirus, " A program is trying to access information stored in outlook, If this is unexpected click deny and verify your antivirus software is up-to-date.

so i click allow

then i get this error message - Word couldnt send mail because of MAPI failure: "Operation not supported"

This concerns me, please help

I will be trying your workaround Doug with your add in thanks

No, it does not make any difference. Only plain text is working with my configuration.
