mail merge not working with office 2013

Trying to do a mail merge with office 2013.  I've done this for years with other versions of office (2003, 2007, 2010) but it's not working with 2013 for some reason.  I'm following all the steps, but the emails aren't getting sent.  Is there some way that the profile or something is set up wrong so that word isn't sending this properly? I've also tried to send via outlook, but in outlook I can't choose an excel spreadsheet for the list of contacts. 

What is wrong with this?  someone plesae help me!  My outlook profiles are all messed up becasue i use icloud to sync the calendar and contacts, but i use pop/stmp (whatever that means) for my email....

    Which is what Macropod suggested in his response of November 25, 2015

    "...ensure Office is working correctly (e.g. by repairing the Office installation via Start > Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair). "

    I'm baffled that this solution has yet to appear in this posting. I had this same exact problem and attempted to following the recommended steps and even downloaded the recommended add on. Ultimately what fixed this for me (and I have a mail merge going as we speak) was to repair/fix office 2013.

    Steps:

    Go to control panel

    Select programs

    select programs and features

    select on Office 2013

    choose the "change" option above the listed programs

    select "repair"

    This will repair any errors with permissions/installation. Once this completed my problem was fixed.

    In that case, the first step should be to ensure Office is working correctly (e.g. by repairing the Office installation via Start > Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair). The next step would be to merge to a document instead of to email, with the email address field in the mailmerge, and confirm that all the expected data are present. So far, I see no indication that either of these has been done.

    I just tried this method and after months of frustration it looks like it worked, at least this time. Thanks

    I didn't say to change the mailmerge type; I said to send the output "to a document instead of to email". You have done the exact opposite.

    Hi Paul, 

    I did as you suggested. I repaireed the Office installation via Start > Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair).

    1. First I made sure Outlook is open.
    2. I opened a new Word document.
    3. In the documentI typed "Hello" 
    4. Clicked on Start Mail Merge and selected Normal Word Document (Previously I always used E-mail Messages)
    5. Selected Recipient List (This is an Excel document with 4 columns, First Name, Last Name, email, number of guests)
    6. Clicked on Edit Recipient List to be sure I have the correct list
    7. Clicked on Insert Merge field and inserted first name. So my document now read Hello

     «Prénom» (Prénom is French for First Naame)

    1. Clicked on Finish and Merge and selected Send email messages
    2. From drop down selected email in the To field 
    3. Mail Format HTML

    11 . Send Records All 

    I see all the First Names fly by very quick but see nothing in my Sent folder. Nothing is sent. Why?
