MS Access 2013 crashes continually on different computers.

I know this sounds tedious but I have also encountered the issues when I open multiple tabs, regardless if they are Tables, Queries, Forms or Reports.  I try to keep the number of tabs open to 3 or less.  And even at that point, I still Save, Close, Right Click and Re-open in a different view.  I know this isn't a solution but for the mean time, it's manageable.

I've also noticed that keeping the file size down as much as possible helps.  Every time I create a new database I go to the Options and check Compact and Repair File automatically every time I close it.

I'd be very curious to know if MS plans on releasing an update to fix this issue as it has become very frustrating.

I said I was going to install Access 2010 well I can't find it anywhere. Not in Australia anyway.

Even tried looking for a trial version of 2013 to install over Access 365 to see if that would help.

All roads lead back to Microsoft and 365.

I just can't take a trick......

It would be nice if Microsoft would offer to take a look at the database for me to see if they can replicate the problems and if so fix them for me.

Do you have Track Autoname checked?  If yes, uncheck it.  What about Compact on Close?  I would also try importing everything into a clean database with the above two items unchecked.

No Luck. Opened three of the five forms crashed again.

You know... try opening in Acces 2010, I'd be surprised if it worked there and not in Access 2013.

I'm not sure what the solution is behind the main issue of this thread, but I have encountered the same problems and have determined somewhat of a workaround.  When I initially open a Table, Query, Form or Report from the left navigation menu it works perfectly.  But sometimes changing a view of an opened tab will create the issue of "Not Responding" for many seconds and sometimes minutes.

How I've worked around this is to save and close the tab, then Re-open it from the left menu into the desired view.  It's not efficient but it surprisingly works.  However, I'm not sure why.  At least it has become manageable as I can now work for more than 5 minutes without a freeze.

I'm still trying to resolve my issues. If I double click in the left hand navigation menu or right click and open in form view the DB crashes.

I have loaded the DB onto a friend's laptop with access 2010, couldn't get it to fail.

I thought I had solved it. My thinking was to replace/rebuild the forms causing the problem, not to copy anything. I began with one form and testing:-

• Initially Replaced one of the forms discovered it was reliable without the code behind the On Load and On Close events. Opened and closed many times.
• Copied over the code
• Opened form - CRASH
• Comment blocked all the code behind the On Load and On Close events,
• open the form from the command button on the main form,
• use the form
• saving the changes
• Close the form
• This worked fine all day and I couldn't get it to fail.
• Needles to say that the operations that the code carries out didn't happen.

After about twenty hours yesterday of adding reports, this morning I removed the comment block on all the code. Opened the first form from the cmd button and it crashed. I have 5 out of 10 forms that do this. In terms of a database it is very simple, 7,000 KB in size.

Is Microsoft aware that there are these issues? I really think this is a problem for them to get their heads together and resolve. So many people are having problems with it.  NEVER had so much trouble with a Microsoft product before.

I'm about to uninstall MS Access 2013 today and install a trial version of 2010 and do some rigorous testing.

I'm desperate to get this thing to work. I'm relying on it to provide a quality service to my customers.
