Remember "Show tabs" setting in OneNote ribbon?

I have a question regarding permanently showing the ribbon tabs in full screen mode. In Office 2013, going into full screen mode means that everything is hidden, except for a very short horizontal bar across the top of the screen. To access anything on the ribbon, I have to click on this bar to show the ribbon first. If I want to pin the ribbon so that tabs are visible at all times in full screen mode, I have to click on this bar, click a menu button near the minimize button (also hidden in full screen), and then click Show Tabs. However, OneNote does not remember this setting. Thus, every time I exit full screen mode or restart OneNote and then reenter full screen mode, I have to re-pin the ribbon again.

How do I get OneNote to remember this setting permanently? It worked in OneNote 2010.

Hey all! OneNote engineer here :)

Update: This has been fixed in all standard Office 365 deployments with build 7766.2060. Simply update to enjoy!

Starting with Version 1701 Build 7766.2029 and later (see File=>Accounts to check your build number) OneNote 2016 O365 will remember any changes you make to the full screen mode ribbon settings both during and between sessions.

As of 1/30/2017 this is deployed to Insiders Fast and will be making its way to "Current Channel" production on 2/14. If you want this change now you can switch to "Insiders Fast" and you can switch back and fourth fairly easily.

    Hey guys, I'm not sure when it happened, but I can confirm that after some Office update, OneNote 2013 now does EXACTLY this by itself (on my Surface Pro 2) :D If I'm set to full screen with just tabs shown in portrait mode, it remains full screen with just tabs shown the next time I rotate to portrait mode. Same goes for when the entire ribbon is displayed, and when the side-bar is displayed.

    Thanks for finally fixing this Microsoft, only took you over 2 years :/

    EDIT: That's only a fix for devices which support multiple orientations, ie Tablet only PCs or 3-in-1 PCs like the Surface Pro. Laptop/Desktop only PCs (which obviously have only 1 orientation), you'll still manually need to reshow the tabs when you manually switch to full-screen mode by clicking the full-screen button. Come to think of it, it somewhat makes sense considering the name of the button.

    For Tablet only PCs and 3-in-1 PCs like the Surface Pro, prior to the update, when in portrait mode (in which I take natural hand written notes on my Surface Pro 2), OneNote 2013 automatically switched to full screen mode (no side bar, no ribbon, no ribbon tabs) and never remembered your side bar nor ribbon status, despite it not being you that manually invoked full-screen. After the update now, when I change my Surface Pro's orientation, it remembers both my side bar and ribbon status when I was in that orientation! So, I could enable full-screen and the ribbon for landscape mode, and full screen and just the ribbon tabs for portrait mode, and it'll now remember the status automatically.

    Microsoft, please allow this setting to be saved. Also, when using a tablet in vertical orientation, sometimes this option isn't even available.

    Please listen to your users on this issue.

    Just adding my vote that it's ridiculous and extremely irritating not having the option to set this. I ink in Full Page View, and every time I want to switch pages I have to go to Normal View and then redo the Ribbon Display Option setting after going back into Full Page View. It's completely silly and a real letdown by Microsoft.
