Remember "Show tabs" setting in OneNote ribbon?

I have a question regarding permanently showing the ribbon tabs in full screen mode. In Office 2013, going into full screen mode means that everything is hidden, except for a very short horizontal bar across the top of the screen. To access anything on the ribbon, I have to click on this bar to show the ribbon first. If I want to pin the ribbon so that tabs are visible at all times in full screen mode, I have to click on this bar, click a menu button near the minimize button (also hidden in full screen), and then click Show Tabs. However, OneNote does not remember this setting. Thus, every time I exit full screen mode or restart OneNote and then reenter full screen mode, I have to re-pin the ribbon again.

How do I get OneNote to remember this setting permanently? It worked in OneNote 2010.

Hey all! OneNote engineer here :)

Update: This has been fixed in all standard Office 365 deployments with build 7766.2060. Simply update to enjoy!

Starting with Version 1701 Build 7766.2029 and later (see File=>Accounts to check your build number) OneNote 2016 O365 will remember any changes you make to the full screen mode ribbon settings both during and between sessions.

As of 1/30/2017 this is deployed to Insiders Fast and will be making its way to "Current Channel" production on 2/14. If you want this change now you can switch to "Insiders Fast" and you can switch back and fourth fairly easily.

    So, what I did was to assign the "hide the ribbon" toggle to the number 5 slot in the quick access toolbar. Then, I mapped the volume up button on my tablet to Alt-5. Whenever I press the volume up key, it triggers the toolbar to hide (if it is visible) or to reappear (when it is hidden).

    How would I map the volume up button (I have a Surface Pro 3) to "Alt-5'?  Is this mapping function in OneNote, in Windows, or using other software?  Thanks

    . . . this is the intended new behavior in Office 2013. There is no way to show the Quick Access Toolbar permanently in Full View Mode. Very annoying . . . 

    Very annoying indeed. Microsoft, change this awkward behaviour.

    Clicking three things every time I want to start (or restart) OneNote.  Every. Damn. Time.

    Yep. I agree.

    Using a surface pro 3, often without keyboard. 

    full view takes up too much precious real estate. minimal view gives you... well.. nothing but page.. ie no ability to switch pens, undo etc, but..  if you 'show tabs' and make a load of shortcuts on the ribbon this view proves useful.... if it would only stay that way when switching between documents, and whenever i go BACK to minimal view.

    C'mon MS.  I just spent 2 grand on this thing. help a Kiwi out

    I strongly want to add my complaint for this issue.

    I used to use an HP EliteBook tablet with OneNote 2010 at University and I loved the way I set the toolbar.

    After graduation I bought the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with the aim of starting my Master course the most efficient way possible...but I am facing the same productivity issue everyone here noticed already. It's really a lot annoying to have to click on the little top ribon every time you want to change your tool. Also, OneNote Metro has a cool selector that OneNote desktop does not have, while the Metro app misses many other functionalities I need from the desktop version. I understand your aim, MS, but, well, actually, it has become a bit of a mess...

    Please, MS, make it happen, we all know you can make it as right as the SP3 I invested my money into: I love it : ) ...maybe just a simple update coming by WU anytime soon.....
