Arrow keys don't work in slide view mode in powerpoint

My powerpoint used to work fine but recently I am unable to advance or move my slides backwards in the Slide view mode with arrow keys, space bar and return. Nothing seems to work. I cannot even exit the presentation with the ESC key. I need to use the cursor to exit presentation. Because of this situation, I cannot use the remote control to advance my slides. PLS HELP!!!

I have fixed the problem on my side following these steps:

Open the "Slide show" tab in the ribbon
Click on "Set Up Slide Show"
Make sure that following options are selected "Show type" = presented by the speaker (full screen) and "Advance slides" = manually

If possible, could some of you send me some of the presentation files (sharable for testing purpose) you were having this keyboard issue.

We just want to make sure it's not content specific since somehow we could not reproduce the issue yet. Many thanks

It has happened to a variety of files and I am quite sure it is not content related. Unfortunately, these are work related files and I cannot send them over. These same files worked fine as recently as 3 weeks ago and I first detected it on 14 Feb. You may want to note that it seems fine when I do not connect to an LCD projector. Once connected, it works for the first few minutes and then the problem sets in. After my reinstallation and keeping it at version 14.1.0, the files work again.

I am encountering the same issue running Lion 10.7.5.

In presentation mode, PP will not advance using arrow keys or external remote. The escape key will not exit presentation mode.

It is possible to advance slides or exit only using the cursor and clicking the right (or left) on screen arrors or the X exit button.

From the above, the only solution appears to be to remove office and update only as far as 14.2.3.

This is the second time this year where MS has broken Office for Mac (for me) and where the solution is to remove, reinstall, and re-update.

This is a huge waste of my time. Another reason to serious consider migrating all my presentations to Keynote.

To help us reproduce this strange keyboard issue and track down the cause, could all of you please answer the following questions and send me an email in your convenience ?

(1) What's your Mac model, OS version ?

(2) What slideshow mode you were using ( Presenter Mode or Mirrored Mode) ?

(3) Were your Mac connected to an external display or projector ?

(4) Were you using a USB presentation remote ?

(5) Were you using gfxCardStatus ?

(6) Were your Mac connected to network then ?

(7) How long you have to idle to reproduce the issue

(8) Have you installed any PowerPoint add-on ?

(9) Have you seen any notfication popup or alert (such as ones from OutLook or Calendar) during the slide show

(10) What's your Mac's Screensaver and energy saving settings ?

(11) Were you using "Growl" ?

(12) Were you using "DropBox" ?

(13) When running into this keyboard issue, try first click the slide using mouse. Will doing so solve the keyboard issue ?

(14) Was your Mac on battery or plugged ?

(15) How long PowerPoint has been running ?

Many thanks and really sorry for all the inconveniences. Really wish you could take some time to answer above questions. It will help us a lot. Somehow we are not able to reproduce this strange KeyBoard focus losing issue.
