Arrow keys don't work in slide view mode in powerpoint

My powerpoint used to work fine but recently I am unable to advance or move my slides backwards in the Slide view mode with arrow keys, space bar and return.  Nothing seems to work.  I cannot even exit the presentation with the ESC key.  I need to use the cursor to exit presentation.  Because of this situation, I cannot use the remote control to advance my slides.  PLS HELP!!!

I have fixed the problem on my side following these steps:

  • Open the "Slide show" tab in the ribbon
  • Click on "Set Up Slide Show"
  • Make sure that following options are selected "Show type" = presented by the speaker (full screen) and "Advance slides" = manually

    I have the same problem.

    I wanted to reply in the hope I get updates when this is fixed.

    I really don't want to go through the hassle of uninstalling.

    I will wait for the next fix.

    Has anyone filed a bug with Microsoft?

    Where can I view it?

    It looks like update 14.3.4 came out a couple of days ago, and is available for download.

    The notes include the following:

    Remote devices lose control while in Presentation Mode in Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac

    Fixes an issue in which keyboards and remotes may lose control in a PowerPoint for Mac slide show.

    I just noticed this, has anyone had the chance to test it out yet?

    I repeat the question of Doug-Carroll, is there anyone who installed the update without any new problems?

    The keys, are they working? Is there anything else, that doesn´t work anymore?

    I mean, you have to ask for that, microsoft. There were several updates, that killed more than they repaired..

    In PowerPoint 2016, go to Slide Show > Setup Slide Show. In the Set Up Show Window, go to Show Type and check Presented by speaker. Once you do that, the Advance slides section to your right will activate (no longer greyed out). Click ok and you're done.
