Arrow keys don't work in slide view mode in powerpoint

I have the same issue since the last update a couple of weeks ago. I also uninstalled and reinstalled updates up to 14.2.3 and that has fixed the problem, at least for now. But I'd really like MS to come up with a solution so I can continue to update my Office software. Many people are reporting the same issue on the Apple Community boards and it's a major issue for anyone who uses PPT for professional purposes. I think most of the professional presenters are discovering the issue first as we are the ones who always use PPT with a remote control in front of an audience.

There is a 14.3.2 update out today, but it doesn't indicate that it resolves this issue. Does anyone have any insight? It is not listed among the fixes in this update, but we've had no indication when this will be fixed.

It appears that Microsoft (or someone on this forum who seems to represent Microsoft) has acknowledged the issue, but has given no clue as to when a fix is coming.

Also, why wouldn't this problem be listed on the PPT 2011 'Known Issues' page, since it seems to affect a large amount of people?

fastest workaround was to uninstall Office 2011 and then re-install a fresh copy.  I updated my Powerpoint to 14.1.0 and then turned down the later updates.  It works fine.  I believe some others have updated to 14.2.3 and its still ok.  Its the 14.3.1 that you need to stay away from.  This whole process is quite fast and you're up and running.  Good luck!

After being relieved to find this thread; upon getting to the end of it I'm REALLY disappointed in the lack of response from Microsoft. I'm also a professional speaker, and up until recently "upgrading" to PowerPoint 2011 from 2008 had little reason to switch over to Keynote. That is no longer the case. Can anyone recommend a decent tutorial on making the switch? I did kick the tyres when first switching to Mac, but found it not so intuitive...

No need for a tutorial. Keynote will run all your PowerPoint 2011 files, almost identically. You could still use PowerPoint to create your new presentations and then run them using Keynote.

There's a simple work-around. When the arrow keys or remote will not advance to the next slide, simply use the trackpad to place the cursor on the slide and advance will continue until the next halt...whenever that occurs.

Or simply use your cursor with the arrows that appear at the lower left of the screen when you are navigating the stuck slide. You can then advance using those arrows. Unfortunately, you have to be at your laptop to do this. You cannot be at a speaker's podium away from your laptop. And the arrows are visible to your viewing audience.

Hope these suggestions help. Still nothing but silence from Microsoft; so what else in new. They screw up the update and then offer no response, even when they know they created this issue.
