Arrow keys don't work in slide view mode in powerpoint

My powerpoint used to work fine but recently I am unable to advance or move my slides backwards in the Slide view mode with arrow keys, space bar and return.  Nothing seems to work.  I cannot even exit the presentation with the ESC key.  I need to use the cursor to exit presentation.  Because of this situation, I cannot use the remote control to advance my slides.  PLS HELP!!!

I have fixed the problem on my side following these steps:

  • Open the "Slide show" tab in the ribbon
  • Click on "Set Up Slide Show"
  • Make sure that following options are selected "Show type" = presented by the speaker (full screen) and "Advance slides" = manually

    Set your AutoUpdate preferences to Automatic updates and you will be notified when the update is available.

    To launch AutoUpdate, go to the PowerPoint Help menu and choose Check for Updates. The update that fixes this problem is not yet available as of today (2/28/13).

    I have re-installed Office 2011 and left it at 14.1.0 for now.  No time for further updates for now.  Did a whole day of presentations today and it worked perfectly.  Looks like we need to be careful when we do updates as we could be worse off and its time consuming trying to figure out what's wrong.  I wonder whether MS will inform us when this thing is fixed.  Thanks everyone for contributing.

    Sorry, but this isn´t an answer.

    You just told us, there is a problem, and it isn´t dropbox.

    The only important thing for me is: Do not install 14.3, so I´m going to rest with my 14.2.3

    Can you tell me when is gonna be the next update? Do I have to install 14.3 before another one?

    And by the way, do you think, the next update would make Powerpoint able to mark several words by using <cmd>, like any other office-software does?

    Really sorry for all the inconveniences.

    Yes, it seems DropBox is not the root cause of the keyboard issue and it starts to appear since 14.3 update. It has been reported that 14.2.3 doesn't suffer this issue. We are investigating on the root cause.

    As for the transition issue, it's specific to Mac with NVidia video card and running Mountain Lion. It seems to be a Nvidia OpenGL Mountain Lion driver bug. This issue has been reported to Apple.

    In next update, there should be a patch for working around this transition issue (may still need NVidia's driver bug fix to fully address the issue though)
