Microsoft Office 2013 Has Stopped Working

Just installed Office 2013 Professional Plus.  Everytime i try and run one of the apps like word, excel, outlook, and so on it just pops up and saying it has stopped working.  It then says it searchs for a solution online which doesn't ever do anything there either.  This happens with all the componenets of Office.  After it erroring out a couple of times i can usually get it to start in safe mode.  I have already gone in and disabled the add ins.  Have tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling.  Did a repair on it.  Tried doing the reapair while Norton AntiVirus and Firewall were disabled.  Installed all the Office 2013 updates.  None of them have fixed the issue.  Booted my computer into safe mode with networking and tried running it from there, it didn't give me the error saying it has stopped just that it can't be run in safe mode.  I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 Bit.

I solved my issue last weekend.  Turned out to be one of the add-ins, ABBYY Finereader.  Not sure where that one came from, but I disabled it for Outlook and Excel, and everything is working fine now.

    Brilliant - worked a treat. Thank you. I bought an anti virus update and have spent 2 days fixing the problems it caused - including a new Office 2013 which didn't work. Waste if time and money,

    I have a similar problem I installed office 2013 professional and it worked for a little time.  Then it stopped and gave me the same error message.  Tried to repair.  I uninstalled.  Now it will not even restart.  I am running Win 8 64 bit

    Thanks, Doug!!  I had the same error message after I just installed Office 2013 -  "word (and excel)  stopped working" and since I could not figure out the Add-Ins,  I took your suggestion and deleted the ABBY Finereader program that apparently came with my Epson Printer.  Now Word and Excel seem to work fine.  Your post saved me from going completely crazy!  Thank you so much!!

    Hey Doug,

       I was having the same problem with word and excel not working, I took your advice and uninstalled Abby Finereader. That fixed the problem, thanks a bunch.
