Microsoft Office 2013 Has Stopped Working

Just installed Office 2013 Professional Plus.  Everytime i try and run one of the apps like word, excel, outlook, and so on it just pops up and saying it has stopped working.  It then says it searchs for a solution online which doesn't ever do anything there either.  This happens with all the componenets of Office.  After it erroring out a couple of times i can usually get it to start in safe mode.  I have already gone in and disabled the add ins.  Have tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling.  Did a repair on it.  Tried doing the reapair while Norton AntiVirus and Firewall were disabled.  Installed all the Office 2013 updates.  None of them have fixed the issue.  Booted my computer into safe mode with networking and tried running it from there, it didn't give me the error saying it has stopped just that it can't be run in safe mode.  I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 Bit.

Thanks.

I solved my issue last weekend.  Turned out to be one of the add-ins, ABBYY Finereader.  Not sure where that one came from, but I disabled it for Outlook and Excel, and everything is working fine now.

[Note from CM: Microsoft is aware of this problem; see "Office programs may crash with the FineReader add-in installed" at**http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2755838/en-us**.]

    Hold down the Ctrl Key as you start Word, which will cause it to start in "Safe Mode" and then Click on the File menu, then Options and then on Add-Ins and then click on the Go button alongside Manage Add-ins.

    This is my (expanding) list of things to try when Office 2013 won’t start or crashes:

    See the KnowledgeBase article “Office 2013 applications crash on launch at the splash screen” at:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2813143

    Do you have Abbyy Finereader installed on the PC? A number of people have reported that removing it overcomes problems with 2013

    You need to start the application in "safe mode".  You can refer to the following article ( http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-word/word-2013-not-starting-right/7c6eeac1-639d-401c-a4b8-d415a6cb3ddd ), but here are the terribly complicated steps from the article :) :)

    1. Open the Run Command by hovering the mouse near the Start Button (Windows Key + R) -> Click on Search and type RUN.
    2. Type winword /safe (leave a space after winword) -> Click OK.

    When I typed RUN, I had to browse and find the MSOffice 2013 folder, and then scroll down to find the application.  The folder was C: --> Program Files --> Micorsoft Office 15 --> root --> office15.

    Here are the steps I followed from the same article:

    Step 1:

    If you are able to work with Word without any problem then the issue might be due to add-ins. Follow the steps below in order to disable the Add-Ins from Word 2013:

    1. Open Word in safe mode.
    2. Click on File -> Options -> Add-ins.
    3. Under Manage select -> COM Add-ins.
    4. Click on GO options beside Manage, uncheck all the add-ins and click Ok.

    Try to open Word and check if it works fine.

    Try to open Word and check if it works fine.

    "Manage" is at the bottom of the Options box that comes up, and make sure yoou choose the COM Add-ins.  As I said, the add-in that was causing me grief was the LABBY Findereader add-in.  I unchecked it, closed Word, then reopened it normally and I was good to go.

    The same steps apply to Excel.

    The article goes into other options if this does not work for you, but since it worked for me, I didn't have to bother reading any more.  Hope this helps.
