Microsoft Office 2013 Has Stopped Working

Just installed Office 2013 Professional Plus.  Everytime i try and run one of the apps like word, excel, outlook, and so on it just pops up and saying it has stopped working.  It then says it searchs for a solution online which doesn't ever do anything there either.  This happens with all the componenets of Office.  After it erroring out a couple of times i can usually get it to start in safe mode.  I have already gone in and disabled the add ins.  Have tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling.  Did a repair on it.  Tried doing the reapair while Norton AntiVirus and Firewall were disabled.  Installed all the Office 2013 updates.  None of them have fixed the issue.  Booted my computer into safe mode with networking and tried running it from there, it didn't give me the error saying it has stopped just that it can't be run in safe mode.  I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 Bit.

Thanks.

I solved my issue last weekend.  Turned out to be one of the add-ins, ABBYY Finereader.  Not sure where that one came from, but I disabled it for Outlook and Excel, and everything is working fine now.

[Note from CM: Microsoft is aware of this problem; see "Office programs may crash with the FineReader add-in installed" at**http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2755838/en-us**.]

I just went through this problem after installing the software for a new Epson printer.  The add on ABBY Finereader which came with the installation seems to have been the culprit. Uninstalled it and all is well. A big thanks for the tip from TimS08

ABBYFineReader comes with Epson printers. I remember being asked if I wanted to install it when I got my printer, so it must be optional. I looked it up and got this from their web site...

"ABBYY FineReader OCR software helpsindividuals turn scans of paper documents, PDF files, and digital photographs into searchable and editable formats."

It showed up in my Word add-ins, I unchecked it and it worked. It didn't show up in Excel, which still doesn't work. I am getting ready to uninstall it.

You can actually uninstall it from the control panel if you're not using it :)

control panel > programs and features > uninstall abbyy fine reader

Thank you for the amazing advice - worked like a charm. I run a home based business & use Office on a regular basis. I thought I would have to pay an arm and a leg to fix the problem but, as soon as I removed the above add-in, Office worked perfectly.
