Mark, This worked for me. Thanks. I'm glad I Googled it. I've previously had to do that over the phone activation...keying in all those numbers...grrrrr! I had to install six new PCs (all with their own copy of MS Home & Office). I was fed up with the fouth...especially when the routine failed. I must have missed a number somewhere. Anyway, thanks again. The next two PCs should install faster. I found that it is the UAC that is blocking the activation. But I prefer to use Mark's method of "Run as Administrator" than turn off UAC. Thanks Dean

The answer for anybody like me is to search from the Start button and when the office program (Word, Excel, ...) shows up as a result of the search, right click on that)
