Hi David,

In case you haven't already found the solution right click on Excel 2013 (or any other Office 2013 application) and select 'Run as Administrator' then follow the steps to activate online

Regards

Mark

Changing to administrator worked for me also.  I suggest this information be included in the instructions somewhere.

Excellent fix. As soon as I ran the application as Administrator Office activated.

    Thanks,

Hold down the Shift key and the right click to get the Run as Admin option.

It is this type of time wasting wild goose chase advice that causes so much frustration with users, and me in particular.

Why would you assume that the users environment is the problem and not the obscure run as admin issue that has been tripping up many users. Thanks to Di Ciano the fix is 10 seconds and not several hours of time wasted.

And why would YOU assume that this wouldn't help anyone else? Have you garnered this from your vast experience offering technical support over the years?

Granted, maybe the "Run as Admin" should have been included as a possible fix; however, this action should not be required either. I’ve installed Office 2013 many times on many machines and have NEVER had to do that.

In my case, the "Run as Admin" fix did absolutely nothing for me BUT repairing the Office installation DID fix the problem.

Don't be so quick to criticize especially when it comes to software issues. There are many factors involved pertaining to different configurations, installed applications and even installed updates that can affect the way that things work... or don't.

There are basic procedures designed to attempt "most likely" fixes first. Just because a few others here stated that this worked for them doesn’t mean that there aren’t 10,000 others for whom it DIDN’T work. These procedures may seem like wasting time to you but may well be exactly what most others need to do to resolve there issues.

And, yes, I HAVE garnered this from my 30+ years of offering technical support.
