Microsoft Word 2013 has stopped working

Whenever I try to open Word 2013 (safe mode is working fine), it says Word 2013 has stopped working. All other Office 2013 are working correctly.

Sounds like you may have a Bluetooth Add-in that is causing the problem.  Click on the File menu, then Options and then on Add-Ins and then click on the Go button alongside Manage Add-ins and if there is a Bluetooth Add-in, disable it.

    what should i do next after the message" you are holding down the control key, do you want to start Word in Safe Mode"? should I click yes or no? and where is the file menu?

    Here, with Word 2013 on a Computer running Windows 8, if I hold down the Ctrl key and start Word, I am presented with a message "Your are holding down the Control Key, do you want to start Word in Safe Mode.  Make sure that you press the Ctrl key before starting Word and keep it held down .

    Hold down the Ctrl key while you start Word to cause it to start in Safe Mode.  Then you should be able to click on the File tab of the Ribbon.  Then click on Options and then on Add-Ins.

    I'm afraid that didn't work.  I should have said I have Windows 8 which has a mind of its own!  I tried several times but I just get a list of options at the bottom, none of which say Safe Mode.  Is there another way of starting it in Safe Mode?  Or maybe I could uninstall it and try again?  It's only Word 2013 (where all my attachments that come by email seem to want to open  in and I can't) and Outlook. 2010 works ok and both these are trials.

    I've done it!  I read somewhere that ABBYY Finereader could be the reason. I read up on it  to see if it's safe to uninstall as it came with this laptop. It appears that I do not need it as I will never use it so, with trepidation, I uninstalled it and voila!  Word 2013 works fine. So thankyou so much, Doug for your help. As an OAP it's nice to know I'm not alone in this pc world and that somewhere out there someone is willing to help!
