Hi, I have just purchased Office 2013 and have used Word for a couple of minutes, but it repeatedly stops responding in specific scenarios. It is far too buggy for me to migrate from my previous version of Office. Situations in which it freezes: Opening the options menu On start up (when it claims that it is not the default program) - I fixed this one by making it the default program for everything Closing the word document and choosing not to save Scrolling through a very long document Excel does not seem to have the same bugs, and I have successfully reached the options page on that program to turn off graphics acceleration. The main reason I purchased Office 2013 was for Word and I would really like to have it functioning properly. I am currently very disappointed and annoyed. When is somebody in their software unit going to experience the problem and set about fixing it so that the home and business world can go about their work without spending time having to find solutions for Microsoft's failings. I predict Office will be dead within 12 months when users look for realistic alternatives. Whatever happened to Lotus?

Same issue here. not just "Word" though - Excel, Powerpoint and Word all hang at random times and I lose a bunch of updates. Sometimes it is a mouse click, sometimes it seems like it did not like the color of the smoothie I made that morning and at other times it is something else. Happens sporadically and not always. i have read through all 5 pages of this post so far and the only thing I have not done is uninstall and re-install Office. If I uninstall it, I might end up trying to just stick with OpenOffice instead for the pain this causes. I use a couple of text editors when I need to do just create text. Only when I have to stick to some template for work do I "have" to use word. http://www.lifehack.org/articles/technology/6-powerful-text-editors-for-windows.html Powerpoint - I am moving away to Prezi instead of powerpoint - seems to work very well. I can't believe you continue to post this same response. I've done everything on the list (where possible). Still Word 2013 (I'm running Windows 7) continually stalls and tells me it is "not responding." I've gone back to Word 2007, but now I have a client who uses 2013. Thanks a lot, Microsoft.

Hi Jan, Since the program is working in safe mode, check if there are any add-ins causing issues. · Open Word, click on File , Options and then Add-ins . · Under Manage select COM Add-ins. · Click on GO options beside Manage , uncheck all the add-ins and click Ok. · Try to open Word and perform a test. Hi,

I have just purchased Office 2013 and have used Word for a couple of minutes, but it repeatedly stops responding in specific scenarios.

It is far too buggy for me to migrate from my previous version of Office.

Situations in which it freezes:

Opening the options menu
On start up (when it claims that it is not the default program) - I fixed this one by making it the default program for everything
