Cannot play video from YouTube through PowerPoint 2013

Just tried to "insert" a video from YouTube using two methods: by pasting the "old embed code" and through the YouTube app. When I try to play the video I receive the following error, "To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website."

The thing is, I have the latest version of flash installed (11.6.602.180). I am running Windows 8 (64-bit). Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me?

Hi All,

We have been hard at work to bring back support for YouTube videos to PowerPoint. We are happy to share that we are now bringing back support for inserting and playing back YouTube videos in PowerPoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2013 with the latest updates.

In order to be ready you need to install the following updates listed for your PowerPoint:

Office 2010: KB2837579
Office 2013: KB2837627, KB2817636

I've been Googling and Googling for a few days now searching for the problem. This is the first place that is more up to date.

I did find the developer way of doing it on another site but it still didn't work for me. As some have said, the Adobe update didn't work either. I've done the Bing search and the embedding. I've deleted the version and changed the 2 from a 3. All of which has done nothing.

If anybody had noticed, today Google lost the embedding for a while. Attempting this today I ran across that issue. I found an article online on it earlier making sure it wasn't my computer. It's back up and running now.

Edit-Another thing, I'm not sure if they changed something on the embedding today but it gives me an error when inserting it after changed the 2 to a 3. "PowerPoint can't insert a video from this embed code. Try a different embed code or use a different website"

Deleting the video=3 altogether it does the same thing.

In reply to my own comments. I figured out what I was doing wrong now.

I feel like hitting myself upside the head for all of the times I tried now. DOH!

The only way that seems to be working is the Developer way. When I was editing the youtube address I didn't finish it properly.

You're supposed to, as was said elsewhere finish with the "v/".......................The / was my issue. This below is what I was reading.

"Copy and change the URL. Check the URL in the address bar of your Web browser (you'll get an address like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hChq5drjQl4). Change the phrase watch?v= to v/ so that the address becomeshttp://www.youtube.com/v/hChq5drjQl4 (or something like it)."

Mike - There is a quick video on YouTube that walks you through the steps. I've been embedding a lot lately preparing for the summer semester. Just in case you don't do this on a regular basis, you may want to bookmark one of the short tutorials on YouTube....or maybe MS will fix the issue :)
