Cannot play video from YouTube through PowerPoint 2013

Just tried to "insert" a video from YouTube using two methods: by pasting the "old embed code" and through the YouTube app. When I try to play the video I receive the following error, "To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website."

The thing is, I have the latest version of flash installed (11.6.602.180). I am running Windows 8 (64-bit). Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me?

We have been hard at work to bring back support for YouTube videos to PowerPoint. We are happy to share that we are now bringing back support for inserting and playing back YouTube videos in PowerPoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2013 with the latest updates.

    This is for PPT 2007, in PPT 2010 you can activate the developer tab by going to File - Options - Customize ribbon - check the box for the developer tab on your right.

    Once activated, click on the more controls button and take it from there.

    Could you elaborate some?  what old fashioned Developer Tool?

    Brad - Did you ever insert video into earlier versions of PowerPoint using the Developer tool? That's what I had to go back to in PP 2013 because the videos won't play. None of the fixes above worked for me. 

    Do you need more info?
