Cannot play video from YouTube through PowerPoint 2013

Just tried to "insert" a video from YouTube using two methods: by pasting the "old embed code" and through the YouTube app. When I try to play the video I receive the following error, "To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website."

The thing is, I have the latest version of flash installed (11.6.602.180). I am running Windows 8 (64-bit). Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me?

We have been hard at work to bring back support for YouTube videos to PowerPoint. We are happy to share that we are now bringing back support for inserting and playing back YouTube videos in PowerPoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2013 with the latest updates.

    Something equally annoying. I readied a whole series of PP lectures with embedded videos in Office 2013. When I got to class - boom -  all embedded info is gone! I had to use an older version of PP to embed & save. 

    C'mon, Microsoft!

    This is crazy... why is there not a simple plug-in from Microsoft / YouTube for this?  Workarounds like this are short lived (or should be) Come on MSFT!!
