Excel 2013 is very slow in loading large workbooks, is there a way to open just the tab I want?

Excel 2013 is extremely slow in opening my large workbook. Sometimes it won't respond at all and freezes my computer.

    Yes, upgrade back to 2010 ...

    MS has already said above that they do not plan to make any changes.

    When you do, ask for a refund on 2013 and explicitly tell MS why you are dumping 2013!

    FYI: depending on the type of volume license you have, you may already have the option of 'upgrading" back to 2010 from 2013 for free

    Could you please tell me how did you compare the two version of Excel?

    Did you use a tool to analyze their performance against a set benchmark?

    Or could you please share the details of your finding of extensive benchmarking?

    You data could help me win my fight with the IT Team in my office and have Excel 2010 installed.

    Hello Anita,

    I have an issue with my workbook being extremely slow when opening and saving. I have 6 macros, a whole lot of hyperlinks, and 20 tabs. Two tabs are designed to draw information from two other tabs. One out of the 20 tabs works automatically all of the rest I have designed buttons to update specifically to avoid slow running. Any suggestions to speed things up?

    That would take some detailed analysis of your code and workbook. Do you have any code that protects and unprotects the sheets? That's the most common issue that causes slowness.

    I found the reason for my problem. I clicked CTL SHIFT END and there was 65,687 empty rows that the workbook was trying to recover every time during opening. If you go to home delete drop down delete sheet rows for every sheet in the workbook then save, it will become much faster.
