Is there anything that might help me with label controls in Excel 2007 from the Developer Tab? You have Form and Active X Label controls. Where would it be in Excel 2007 Inside Out?

    1. The Help files for Office are terible.  They got me a good'n recently: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2007-powerpoint/add-placeholder-to-custom-layout-click-the-mouse/1f67c8f9-5070-41ea-9b5b-c33f6d0d9592

Make sure you're using the online help (bottom right corner of Help), then you can click the NO this didn't help button at the bottom.

    1. Drawing canvas is something that exists in Word, and was probably originally planned to be rolled out to all Office 2007 applicaitons, but got cut at some point during the development.  Just draw things anywhere on the sheet, or use the cells.

    Cheers

Who is in charge of the help area with Excel? They need to reword that area on the overview on controls where they talk about a drawing canvas in Excel. That needs to be redone.

I'm trying to practice on building a simple form in Excel using these labels and other controls on that developer tab in the ribbon. You have about twenty different form and active x controls. I am also trying to get this concept down for the Excel Expert exam in 2007 because I feel it could come up as something.

Why is the Microsoft Excel help in this area referring to a drawing canvas? There is adrawing contextual tab I know but no drawing canvas in Excel. And also the worksheet is the worksheet. If you remove the gridlines its still a spreadsheet.

If you are talking about the first picture with a blue background under Summary of Form Controls, with the text "Identifies the purpose of acell or text box, or displays descriptive text (such as titles, captions, pictures) or brief instructions."... it is quite easy to make cells look like that.  Just give the cells a border and turn off gridlines (in the View tab, Show/Hide group).

As the text says, the label identifies the purpose of a cell or text box.  Either use cells on the worksheet, or draw a textbox using Insert > Shape.

(You could just as easily use another cell for the label, then protect the sheet to control which cells are editable).

You still haven't said what it is that you are trying to do?

I still don't have a clue on label and active x controls. There should be a drawing canvas in Excel and seperate from a worksheet. The worksheet is the worksheet. Microsoft messed up.
