How to expand text boundaries in Word 2013?

Hello everyone!,

I was convinced by someone here to install office 2013, so I tried it today. But the first issue i meet is the "text boundaries".

In office 2010 and previous versions. When I open a blank page, I can see the text boundary is around page (reach the margin that I set up manually.)

But in Word 2013, the text boundary is only around the first line. and it expand continuously as I type (line by line).

So, what I can do to make the default boundary display like in previous Office versions?

oh yea, I got another problem, LOL,

I am trying to save the picture and upload, but when i click Save as in Paint, Snipping tool.. the app immediately crash LOL :))

Okay, I will add photo later (in case you are not fully understand my expression).

anyway, although my english is not really well, please help me. :)

Unfortunately, that is the default view of text boundaries in Word 2013 (and cannot be changed AFAIK), which is one reason I will not be using Word 2013, as I refuse to either deal with that display or try to operate without text boundaries displayed. This is another instance of Word designers not understanding how people in the real world use Word.

    I wonder whether you remember or not, the reply from Word developer when I asked him that the Option to view the text boundary having been altered like a paragraph boundary instead of page boundary in Word 2013?

    If you do not mind, can you please reiterate his unsatisfied reply on this issue?

    Mr. Jay Freedman (Word MVP) who was also attended the session reported as follows :-

    I do not remember exactly the answer from the Word developer we spoke to. What I do remember is that he was not sure about why the text border’s behavior changed, but he thought it was related to using the new layout engine. He also said something about the older versions combining the boundaries around multiple paragraphs into one boundary, but I don’t think that’s correct—that would not explain why the old boundary went all the way down to the footer when there are very few lines of text at the top of the page.

    Well, using a 97-2003 format will work, however, after using Word 2013 this way, I noted the change also took place in Excel and PowerPoint!  Excel new features did not work, even though I had the 2013 Ribbon running.  This "work around" only works if you are using WORD ONLY!

    PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, just do text boundaries like it has been for years.  Text boundaries in 2013 looks more like line boundaries,  Certainly not an improvement unless someone can show me the reason for this "new and improved" text boundary option!

    Word 2013 will show text boundaries as they have appeared for years!  Here is the work around:

    One must used Save File As "97-2003" format.  When user check this box, the text boundaries are back as before. 

    The bad news is - the cursor does not show when at the left margin!  Come in a space and there it is, but for some reason, the cursor does not show when aligned with the text boundary!!!!  I have no solution for this.

    The good news is - Word Art works as it did previous to 2007!

    I cannot live, nor should most users work, without text boundaries!  Labels are a must! 

    Sure hope the people at Microsoft get this right sooner than later!!!!!

    The border will be invisible when I used the "Double-click to hide white space", which I usually used to hide header/footer spaces on top/bottom.
