"Microsoft Word has stopped working" when I close the program

I installed Office 2013. 

All programs launch and work OK.

When I close Excel and Word, I get a message that "Microsoft Word has stopped working."

Word then looks for a solution.

Sometimes it restarts, sometimes it shuts down.

Outlook sometimes shuts down while open.

I then get a message that "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working,"

Outlook then looks for a solution.

Sometimes it restarts, sometimes it shuts down.

I have disabled all add ons. I have uninstalled and re-installed 2013.

What do I try next?

I called Microsoft technical support (800-642-7676).

The friendly technician tracked the problem to a conflict with a NVIDIA driver from my video card.

The offending driver was: NVWGF2UM.DLL

The technician renamed it: NVWGF2UM.old

She left everything else the same.

I am still using the PNY NVIDIA GeForce 210 Graphic Card in Windows 7 pro and I am having no problem with any program in the Office 2013 suite.

She found the problem driver in the event log.

But do not install any future video card driver updates. The offending driver will be reinstalled.

    Do you have Abbyy Finereader installed on the PC? A number of people have reported that removing it overcomes problems with 2013

     

    I have MS Office 2013 and everything worked fine. I then installed Abbyy Finereader. I then got the "Microsoft Word has stopped working" error message upon Word startup as well as a similar error when starting Outlook. I uninstalled the Abbyy Finereader. Everything now works again (except Abbyy, lol).

    I've found a solution to why my word kept on crashing.

    I disabled the addins in word, the bluetooth addin to be particular.

    Start your word in safe mode and go into your options and disable the active addins.

    Click on the addin you want to disable and click go down the bottom, this will give you a choice to disable it or not.

    I hope that works for everyone.

    Hello everyone ..

    Also the refered problem whith  NVWGF2UM.DLL.

    I have installed card an NVidia GT 240M and couldnt use Office 2013

    Just updated the drives, and...  miracle , works  perfectly.

    Hi,

    You can also try this:

    Cause:

    This issue could in office 2013.****

    1.) Abby Fine Reader

    2.) Graphic Card Driver.

    1. Any Third Party Addin.

    Solution:

    Method 1:

    1. Look for Abbyy Fine reader in control panel.

    2)Remove it from the program list.

    3)Restart the computer and check the status.

    If you are not able to remove it update the latest Update for Abbyy Fine Reader from their website.

    Method 2:

    1. Try to disable Graphic adapter from Device manager

    Locate Device Manager:

    Right Click on My computer-->Properties -->Device Manager.

    1. Open office application.

    3)Check the status.
