Download the MergeTools – 20120609 Add-in that I created from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=5aedcb43615e886b#cid=5AEDCB43615E886B&id=5AEDCB43615E886B%21111

and also the Mail Merging with Charts document that is also on that page.  That document explains how you must set up the Excel Data Source and the Mail Merge Main document to be able to execute a merge with a Chart that is unique to each record in the data source.

I am not sure what you mean.  However, if you send me the datasource and the mail merge main document, referencing this thread in the covering emai, I will investigate the issue.

Firstly, Doug, thank you for generously sharing this information.  I will try your tool out.

Not sure if it will solve my exact problem.

I have created an assessment tool using Excel Online Surveys.  When a respondent completes the survey it will automatically post the answers into the excel online sheet.  I want to be able to automatically generate a report to send to the respondent each time a new response is posted online.  This report will include a graph (hence I looked for and found your useful detail to try out).  I have created a Word mail merge template that is successfully extracting some of the data from the excel sheet, but need to do the graph now.

Can you advise how to achieve my goal of automatically prompting the mail merge generation of a report each time a new response is posted to the Excel Online spreadsheet?  If you would know how to automatically save that report as PDF and attach to an email (with the email address coming from the excel online spreadsheet) that would be even better.

Neither mail merge, nor my Merge Tools utilities are really designed for the production of individual documents (though if the data source only contains one record, then one document is all that will be produced)

The issue in your case however is going to be what triggers, or how is something triggered by someone posting a response to the spreadsheet.

By "the Excel Online spreadsheet" to you mean the Excel Online application?
