Download the MergeTools – 20120609 Add-in that I created from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=5aedcb43615e886b#cid=5AEDCB43615E886B&id=5AEDCB43615E886B%21111

and also the Mail Merging with Charts document that is also on that page.  That document explains how you must set up the Excel Data Source and the Mail Merge Main document to be able to execute a merge with a Chart that is unique to each record in the data source.

In followup, I just wanted to let you know that this add-in works very well. Thanks again for sharing your excellent work.

    Hi Doug,

I am trying to use your mergetool to insert a mail merge graph into a word document. From what I could tell I formatted the data + document exactly as per your instructions, but when I chart merge and select all the drop downs, it does not generate any files, nor are there any error messages.

I tried the "merge to individual docs" function which successfully generated word + pdf files which suggests that the add-in was installed successfully. Below is a re-creation of your test data & form, could you see if anything is out of place?

    excel data: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5159339/mergetool/mergetool%20test%20datasource.xlsx

    word document: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5159339/mergetool/mergetool%20document%20test.doc

Thank you in advance, I would really appreciate a moment of your expertise.

In that the first two paragraphs of your post are identical to the email I received on Friday I assume that you are David Yu. I responded to the email with attachments that were created by using the Merge with Charts utility on the document and data source that you sent to me.

If you did not receive my email, send me another email.

    Hi

This looks to be a very useful tool and seems to answer the question I googled, however, neither of the links to the skydrive seem to be functioning.

Is there a problem with these?

Many thanks for any help / advice.

    Lisa
