Download the MergeTools – 20120609 Add-in that I created from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=5aedcb43615e886b#cid=5AEDCB43615E886B&id=5AEDCB43615E886B%21111

and also the Mail Merging with Charts document that is also on that page.  That document explains how you must set up the Excel Data Source and the Mail Merge Main document to be able to execute a merge with a Chart that is unique to each record in the data source.

Exactly where did you save it?  With what name did you save it?

If it is not listed under the Document Template item of the Developer tab, either:

    1. you have NOT saved it in the correct location,
    2. you have changed the file extension when saving it

or 3. under File>Options>Advanced>General>File Locations, the Startup folder has been changed from:

    C:\Users[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

What does appear there for the location of the Startup folder?

    Hi,

I was able to get this to work on my work computer.  Now that it's there, I created a merge document per the instructions and saved it.  While it is still open, I clicked the "Chart Merge" on the toolbar.  I get the following error:

The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings.  I followed the instructions and enabled all macros in the Trust Center.  It still generated the error.  I followed the next instructions to go to the Templates and Add-ins dialog box, and it is there (I didn't have to add or attach it).  The next help suggestion is to copy the macro from one template to another via the Organizer utility at the bottom of the Templates and Add Ins dialog box.  I get a window that shows one list under "in Merge Doc:" with

    Default Paragraph Font

    No List

    Normal

    Normal (Web)

    Table Grid

    Table Normal

and Styles available in:  Merge Doc (Template)

and then another list under "To Normal" with

    Default paragraph font

    No list

    Normal

    Table Normal

and Styles available in: Normal.dotm (global template)

I'm not sure what to do here, if anything in this window?

    Sorry for all the questions!

    This:

"The next help suggestion is to copy the macro from one template to another via the Organizer utility at the bottom of the Templates and Add Ins dialog box."

does not make any sense in relation to my Merge Tools Add-in.

Please answer the question that I asked:

Under File>Options>Advanced>General>File Locations, what is shown for the location of Startup?

You may need to click on the Modify... button see the full path.

You must save the MergeTools - 20140218.dotm file in that location.

In the File Locations dialog referred to above, when you select Startup, the following note will appear at the bottom of the dialog:

"The default location (for the Startup folder) is treated as a trusted source for opening files.  If you change a location, make sure that the location is secure."

If you have not changed the location, you will not get a message about macros not being found or disabled.

You must not create your merge document in the MergeTools add-in as you said that you have done.
